PHASE nominated for National Social Enterprise Award
We’re pleased, scrub that, we’re totally ecstatic to have been recognised by Social Enterprise UK for their annual awards for social enterprise in the UK.
We’re honoured because the award is for inspiring young people, which is what it’s all about for us.
The nomination is for the work we’ve done in launching our first enterprise in Scunthorpe – Salvage Row.
If you don’t know about Salvage Row, check out our dedicated website here, it’s a vintage and retro furniture store and workshop.
We sell all kinds of unusual items and have attracted scores of customers since we opened in May. We’ve also been grateful to receive some brilliant volunteers which we’ve put to work in our workshop and shop renovating and making furniture. All profits go back into helping our vulnerable young people in Scunthorpe and North Lincs. If you fancy volunteering get in touch.
Our MD sue was equally excited to hear the news of our nomination :
“Were delighted to be been short-listed for this award. We’re especially delighted because it’s all about inspiring young people which is one of our main aims as a social enterprise.
“PHASE provides housing, education and employment to vulnerable young people in Scunthorpe and North Lincs. The shop and workshop now gives us a focal point for our young people to become inspired by what is a popular and creative sector.
“The social benefits of Salvage Row are numerous. We designed the brand to feel inspiring, and to feel different from one of the big national charity shops.
“Salvage Row allows people on all budgets to have nice things in their home and to get involved in the process. It’s local and all the money stays local” – said Sue.
PHASE is one of four social enterprises nominated in this category from around the UK. The awards ceremony is on 28th of November and some of us will be going to cheer us along in the hope we win.
